​Take a stroll up Upper Street and enjoy the beating heart of central Islington. Camden Passage is a popular walk lined with cute shops and cafes, with an antiques market on Saturdays and Wednesdays. Grab a coffee at one of the many coffee shops and relax in Islington Green. From here you can spot The Screen on the Green - one of the oldest continuously running cinemas in the UK where The Clash and Sex Pistols have performed. Islington has more theatres than any other borough outside of the West End. Stop for lunch on Theberton Street and the French bistro Le Sacré Coeur is a delightful choice.

From the lovely Cross Street with independent shops, the small Dagmar Passage leads to Little Angel Theatre. It’s a 100-seat puppet theatre for children since 1961. In their workshop, they have courses for adults and children so all can benefit and enjoy the art form of puppetry. The nearby parish church, St Mary’s Islington, has a lovely garden with small walkways - perfect to enjoy a good book. 💜
The whole of Upper Street is a very nice place to come for a ‘night on the tiles’ - as an alternative to going out in the West End. With an array of restaurants and theatres such as Almeida Theatre, the King’s Head Theatre, the Hope & Anchor, and Angel Comedy, along with many theatre pubs with live music and license ‘til 2 AM, such as the Slim Jim’s Liquor Store, the King’s Head, and the Hen & Chickens Theatre Bar. There are multiple live music venues such as the Islington Assembly Hall, The Garage, and Electrowerkz. This is central Islington.
