YOUR CONSUMER Rights

1. Who is protected

The protection of consumers is covered by the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 (CPRs). A “consumer” includes anyone Jacob Littorin comes into contact with during operations, such as:

  • Landlords, sellers, and prospective buyers or tenants

  • Applicants wanting to view property

  • Individuals making general property enquiries

Under the CPRs, Jacob Littorin is required to:

  • Provide truthful information about services and prices

  • Disclose all relevant information to enable informed decisions

All consumers are entitled to truthful information and fair treatment under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 (CPRs).

2. Openess and honesty

Jacob Littorin provides clear and truthful information about services, properties, and pricing. Relevant details, including any detracting features of a property, are disclosed so consumers can make informed decisions. Information is communicated in a way that an “average consumer” can understand, and questions may be asked to determine what is important for each consumer.

3. Marketing and advertising

Marketing practices are governed by the Business Protection from Misleading Marketing Regulations 2008 (BPRs). Jacob Littorin must be able to substantiate any claims made in marketing or comparative advertising, such as:

  • Being the number one estate agent in a specific area

  • Claims regarding the number of properties sold or let in a given period

Any unsubstantiated claims may be considered a breach of the BPRs.

4. Compliance and accountability

Jacob Littorin follows guidance from the National Trading Standards Estate and Letting Agency Team (NTSELAT) and the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) Propertymark to comply with CPRs and BPRs.

In the unlikely event of non-compliance:

  • Jacob Littorin will cooperate fully with Trading Standards Officers

  • Processes are in place to prevent future breaches
